It's like a soft, warm neck waiting for gentler caress. it's like strong arms holding tight to each other, like tender lips, loving each other more and more for every confession made, for each tear tested and tastes, and of course for every single last kiss.
Kacey makes the kind of unpretentious music that I'll still be listening to and singing along with thirty years from now. There's some mystery in her writing as to the story behind each song, but for the most part her lyrics are simple, powerfully evocative, and achingly universal. Meanwhile, her arrangements are almost the opposite- while sounding deceptively simple at first, each listen may reveal a detail or a nuance that was missed before. Each part is placed with care.
And the band she has assembled...! I suppose they too deserve some credit for this masterpiece. That bassline on In Too Deep makes me just ~~wiggle!
The more I listen, the more strongly I feel that The Hiding was a true labor of love. And what fun it is to enjoy!
Favorite track: In Too Deep.
